DESPITE SUPREME COURT DECISION, METRO CONTINUES TO BE PUBLISHED IN SANTIAGO, CHILE Chile's highest court of appeal has annulled the contract for the newspaper Metro in Santiago. However, Metro continues to be published as usual. Yesterday, the Supreme Court of Chile annulled the distribution contract between the subway authority in Santiago de Chile and the newspaper Metro. The agreement between the subway and Metro has been contested on four previous occasions, as has the subway's right to distribute media. Each time, the decision has been in favor of Metro and the subway. The decision of the Supreme Court is the first judgment to go against the parties. Negotiations with the subway and the city have begun as a result of the Court's decision. Nevertheless, Metro is being published as usual, distributed by hand with a larger print run and at a lower cost of distribution.
