TV3 and Viaplay to produce original drama

June 10 2015

MTG’s TV3 and Viaplay will co-produce a new Nordic original drama series with the working title Black Widows. Shooting will begin this summer, and the series will premiere in Sweden, Norway and Denmark in 2016. One of the lead characters will be played by the Swedish Hollywood star Peter Stormare.

“I´m excited that TV3  is going into drama and even more excited to be a part of it”, says Peter Stormare.

The eight one hour-episodes are an adaption of the Finnish drama series Black Widows from 2013, which is the most successful drama series ever in Finland. The series mix a strong crime plot with traditional relation drama.

Black Widows is the perfect drama series. Cross-border drama have increased in popularity quite a lot in recent years, and with Black Widows we have a winning drama concept for multiple platforms in multiple countries”, says Morten Mogensen Chief Content Officer MTG Free-TV Scandinavia.

Peter Stormare will play one of the male leading roles alongside three prominent, yet to be named, Scandinavian actresses.

“This is going to be a thrilling project to work with and I´m eager to start filming”, says Peter Stormare.

Black Widows is a collaboration between MTG TV in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark and MTG’s pan-Nordic streaming service Viaplay.

Black Widows will add to our already strong series offering. We have been looking for the perfect project to co-produce between our TV channels and Viaplay and we believe Black Widows will capture audiences both on screen and online”, says Jakob Mejlhede Andersen MTG Executive Vice President Programming and Content Development.
