EsportsTV sets sights on US through PlayStation™Vue

April 13 2017

Starting April 2017, PlayStation™Vue customers can experience legendary esports moments via the world’s first 24/7 dedicated esports channel, esportsTV.

Owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation™Vue is an Internet-based live TV service in the US. Thanks to esportsTV, Vue users will now be able to enjoy the very best esports action around the clock, including the biggest tournaments from the world’s largest esports company, ESL.

And when we say the biggest tournaments, we mean it.

Intel Extreme Masters Katowice

EsportsTV already reaches over 5 million households in Europe and Africa (through M7 Group, one of Europe’s largest satellite and IPTV operators, amongst others). The tie-up with PlayStation™Vue represents the channel’s US debut – a move that not only broadens the potential audience for this awesome sport, but highlights esports’ global popularity.

According to analyst firm Newzoo, esports already attracts more enthusiasts than NFL, and by 2020, it will account for more than 10% of all US sports viewing. This year, ESL’s mega-events in the US include ESL One New York in September, while DreamHack (the organizer of the world’s largest digital festivals) will arrange events in Austin, Atlanta and Denver.

EsportsTV will be part of Playstation™Vue’s Elite plan. All you need is a PlayStation®4 – or Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, a PC/Mac or a mobile device.

The timing couldn’t be better, with season 12 of Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM), the longest running global pro gaming tour in the world, approaching fast. First stop is IEM Sydney on 6-7 May – put it in your Vue queue!
