ESL One Genting boots up esports’ hottest year yet

January 17 2017

Over 11 million unique viewers, a USD 250,000 prize pool, 5,000 fans on site every day – ESL One Genting kicked off 2017 in style!

After three days of screen-warping mayhem, ESL One Genting came down to this epic Dota 2 battle between Digital Chaos and Newbee:

Summarizing the event, Ulrich Schulze, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL, says: “We’re humbled by the passion and commitment from the fans in Southeast Asia.”

Held 6 to 8 January, Genting was ESL’s debut in Malaysia. It’s just the start – during 2017, ESL will come to Katowice, Cologne, New York and many more.

A part of MTG, ESL is the world’s largest esports company and leads the industry across the most popular video games, with numerous online and offline competitions.

MTG also owns DreamHack, the leading esports company in Scandinavia, and in 2015 we launched the world’s first 24/7 dedicated esports channel, esportsTV.

Why do we love esports so much?

  • Almost 300 million viewers worldwide in 2017
  • More fans than traditional sports such as NFL by 2018
  • And dance moves like this:
