- ‘The Great Escape’ season two premieres exclusively on MTG’s Nordic streaming service Viaplay
- MTG continues to invest in high quality kids content
- MTG’s content production and distribution businesses will exhibit at MIPTV in Cannes, France on 9-12 April
‘The Great Escape’ aims to present complex subjects like chemistry and mathematics in an entertaining and informative way. The series follows a ‘Christmas calendar’ format, with a new episode released every day from 1 December to Christmas Eve, and is produced in Swedish, Norwegian and Danish versions with Beppe Singer, Ole André Sivertsen and Niels Christian Meyer headlining a local cast in each respective country.
The win by ‘The Great Escape’ at the Kristallen awards in September 2017 was the first time a kids series created for a streaming service claimed the biggest prize in Swedish TV. The series is produced by Nexiko, a production company based in Stockholm, Sweden. Season one premiered exclusively on MTG’s Nordic streaming service Viaplay in December 2016.
Jakob Mejlhede, MTG EVP and Head of Programming and Content Development: “Thousands of budding young scientists across the Nordic region can’t be wrong – mixing creative experiments with a dramatic storyline is a winning formula. We’ve seen huge demand from kids and parents for a second season of the runaway success that is ‘The Great Escape’, and we continue to invest in high quality kids content as a clear differentiator for Viaplay, the leading streaming service in the Nordic region.”
Another Viaplay kids original, the 16 part original series ‘Peppy Pals’ aiming to help children develop their emotional and social intelligence, premiered in September 2017.
