A revolutionary bracket-style elimination tournament for the top Cruiserweight and Super Middleweight boxers – season one of the World Boxing Super Series comes to stadiums and screens around the world from September 2017.
On 8 July, the tournament kicked off in style with a Draft Gala at the legendary Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, where the top four seeds in each weight class picked opponents from the four unseeded boxers.
Next up – the four quarter-finals (autumn 2017), followed by two semi-finals (early 2018) and then the grand final fight in May next year.
Every participant is a king of the ring – the first season of the World Boxing Super Series features nine undefeated fighters, five world champions (including all four Cruiserweight champions) and three former champions, and a combined record of 424 fights, 403 wins and an unbelievable 283 KOs.
Peter Nørrelund, MTG EVP and CEO of MTG Sport, as well as one of the principals behind the concept: “The stakes for these 16 conquerors have never been higher – USD 50 million in prize money, seven title belts and a place in history as the first winner of the Muhammad Ali Trophy are all on the line. This is what fans around the world have been waiting for: the best fighting the best for the Greatest Prize in Boxing.”
World Boxing Super Series is owned by Comosa AG, in which MTG is a shareholder. For the latest updates, check out www.WorldBoxingSuperSeries.com or follow @WBSuperSeries on social.
