Kongregate boots up $10 million developer fund

August 9 2017

Got a great PC or console game in the works? MTG’s Kongregate is launching a $10 million initiative to support indie developers in creating the next global smash hit.

Open to developers of paid and free-to-play titles for PC or consoles, the fund offers financial assistance as well as expert support from Kongregate in key areas such as platform relationship management, marketing and analytics.

Moving into PC and console games is the latest step in Kongregate’s journey to become a leading cross-platform publisher. Founded as a web platform for Flash games, the company has already expanded successfully into mobile, with its mobile releases receiving over 100 million downloads so far.

Kongregate’s previous $10 million fund, launched in 2013 for mobile games, has produced more than 30 titles, including 2016 Editors’ Choice winners BattleHand, AdVenture Capitalist and The Trail.

Kongregate launched its first original game, GRIDD: Retroenhanced, on Steam and Xbox One and is following it up this summer with Peter Molyneux’s The Trail: Frontier Challenge and Super Fancy Pants Adventure. Both games are available to wishlist on Steam today.

MTG completed the acquisition of Kongregate in July 2017. MTG also owns 51% of InnoGames, a developer of online games for PC and mobile.
