Guldtuben takes gold as Denmark’s biggest award show

September 11 2017

In the spotlight at Guldtuben 2017 – Denmark’s very best digital storytellers and an industry transformation that’s moving faster than ever!

In front of 9,000 fans at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena and hundreds of thousands following online, the Guldtuben 2017 awards on 9 September celebrated the most creative and influential Danish stars on YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.

The star-packed event, hosted by MTG’s digital video network Splay, was shown live on YouTube, Facebook and Danish broadcast channel TV2 Zulu (Guldtuben’s TV debut).

A total of 17 prizes were awarded, with YouTube sensation Alexander Husum snagging no fewer than three – Best YouTuber, Humour and Collaboration of the Year.

Also groovin’ at ‘Tuben…

  • Rasmus Brohave (Vlogger of the Year)

  • …Kender du det c (Oskar and Elias) (Best Facebookers of the Year)

  • …and Emilie Briting (Rising Star of the Year)

And there’s one more winner to announce: Guldtuben itself! Launched in Denmark as a niche event just two years ago, Guldtuben is now the country’s biggest award show. There’s a similar trajectory in Sweden, where June’s Guldtuben was one of the highest impact digital events of the year.

All in all, it’s yet another sign that some of the most engaging storytellers are on social platforms – and that MTG’s digital video networks Splay and Zoomin.TV are a great way to reach today’s young digital-first audiences (who might just be tomorrow’s Guldtuben winners, too…)
