DreamHack Masters takes over Globe

December 4 2017

The world’s top esports stars will light up the Ericsson Globe in 2018 as DreamHack Masters comes to Stockholm for the very first time.

DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018

DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 will take place on 1-2 September, with an initial group stage on 29-31 August. The spectacular tournament will feature 16 leading Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams battling for a huge prize pool of over $250,000.

Karin Wanngård, Mayor of Stockholm City: “It feels exciting and natural that DreamHack chooses Stockholm as a host city. Stockholm is one of the world’s most important tech cities, and we have established ourselves as a prominent event city. We have a long tradition of esports that we are now building on.”

Sweden is home to some of the world’s most passionate and knowledgeable esports fans. Global esports superstars Ninjas in Pyjamas, winners of DreamHack Masters Malmö 2016, are based in the Swedish capital – along with DreamHack itself.

Marcus Lindmark, CEO & President of MTG’s DreamHack: “We are tremendously excited to head to Stockholm with DreamHack Masters. Stockholm is the home of the DreamHack headquarters and Stockholm Live has some of the best facilities available globally, so we are going to have everything at our fingertips to produce the best esport event and experience possible, for both viewers onsite and online.”

Tickets to DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 go on sale at 1000 CET on 28 February 2018 – more info here.

The Ericsson Globe, operated by Stockholm Live, represents the sun in the world’s largest scale model of the Solar System, which stretches across Sweden. On 1-2 September 2018, it’s going to become the centre of gravity for the world of esports too…
